The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, performance, data integrations, security, and structural data integrity of the company’s SQL servers.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Under the general supervision of the Director, Software Development, the Database Administrator works with both IT Operations and IT Development. There is interaction with end users across the organization and external partners.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all Microsoft SQL Server database servers
- Set up and maintain replications between Microsoft SQL Servers, both intranet and Internet
- Recommend best practices for query writing, view creation, stored procedures, monitoring, backup, security, etc. as they relate to SQL Servers
- Recommend and execute changes to existing data topology
- Create and update all SQL documentation
- Manage, monitor and maintain the following:
- SQL backups
- SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
- SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)
- SQL Server Agent Jobs
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. The DBA is seated most of the time.
